Alison Online Diploma

Alison is one of our current choices of study partner. The principal choice of sports students is to take a general management diploma, and Alison delivers a basic module that can be completed in 12 months. This will be a good choice for a student who is doing the first cycle of his school exams, aged 16 maybe, and with certificates in Maths and English. When a student has some certificates behind him already that is some proof that the student has already applied himself to relevant disciplines, and will likely be able to complete some distance learning.

Delivery

The great advantage of distance learning is the flexibility. You can organise your learning times around your sport training and your competition calendar. However, this flexibility is not to be abused. At workouttennis we make sure that modules are completed on time, and that a student has the support to allow for any eventualities. What happens if special opportunites arise from your sport, and your academic programme is disturbed? We make sure that a teaching professional is available to reprogramme your studies so that any future academic won't be derailed.

Schoolroom

Another plus of distance learning is the chance to build up diplomas in modules, in relatively small blocks. Sports students have great difficulty in committing themselves to a three year or five year course where they become attached to a geographical centre, and to a fixed programme of classes and exams. By just working on an annual basis, the big decision-making about schedules is largely removed. Every year can be planned afresh, and any misjudgements will not have long term consequences.

One of the major aspects of Business Studies is that once you have the business basics you can specialise in one of the business disciplines, like finance, or operations, or human resources, by adding on modules. To gain specific industry skills you'll need to get some work experience, but sometimes even this can be partly achieved through studying.

People Management

At Alison you can take your business management further by taking modules on accountancy, human resources, computing, project management, health and safety, law, quality control, supply chain or risk management. Maybe you want to take more practical diplomas in carpentry, electrical work or plumbing, or maybe you want to look at the world of tourism or education. You can start a career in all of these things with one year online learning modules.

We assess a student's needs and ambitions, then we take the plunge. We enrol a student on one of the one year programmes, then we make sure we find a way of completing it around training and competition. We have as much dedication to academic learning as seeing our sports people win championships and prize money.
